I always thought myself pretty adept at eating with chopsticks. Until I was out recently with some friends at a Korean restaurant. Apparently they way I held them was not the right way, and I spent the next 10 minutes or so with my friends instructing me on the way I should be holding the chopticks. It was tough I can tell you, as it did not come naturally to me. For some reason, it took a long time for me to assimilate to the instructions as my fingers were doing something different. All the while I was getting instructions, I was worried about my food going un-eaten…!
Do you hold your chopsticks the right way or do you hold them in your own style?
I hold the top stick as a pen and the bottom one trapped beneath the base of my thumb and resting on my third finger. So the top one moves to trap food.
