Diya on Korea

There are so many Korean translated literature titles currently available and its quite hard to keep up and also *ahem* control myself in bookstores.

This year I will be writing and reviewing morebooks. I remember back in 2007, when I first visited South Korea, I had this strong desire to understand more about the culture and I wanted to do this through literature. The available books were scarce and the Korean classics that had been translated into English were not done as well. Sadly, a lot of the meaning had been lost in translation and it had an affect on the impact of the words.

In 2024, it is great now to see the abundance of titles and the quality of the translations that currently exist. It is also great to see more people reading these books. I have met a lot of people at books stores that are reading Korean translated liteature.

It is great to see the recognition that Korean literature is getting in the UK and that it deserves.
